Worth Every Ounce of Effort

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, In : Pokémon
Being an avid shiny enthusiast, I was ecstatic to find that there was an item that increases the odds of encountering shiny Pokémon in Black 2 and White 2. I was also thrilled that there was a worthwhile reward in store for those who complete the National Pokédex instead of a lame diploma. I'm really glad I decided not to transfer all of my Pokémon from SoulSilver to White... it would've been a massive pain to trade everything over to Black 2. I had completed the National Pokédex in...

The (N)oroark Theory

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Friday, June 29, 2012, In : Pokémon
Last December, I revealed that N was secretly a Zorua/Zoroark in Plasma's Folly. I originally intended for it to just be a twist in my story, but now I've come to believe that it might actually be canonical. There are numerous hints both for and against the theory, and I'd like to discuss some of them.
I've already talked about my reasoning for using it in PF, and most of the explanation could also apply to the games. His behavior is fairly odd, and could be attributed to the fact that he isn'...

Monochrome Drama

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Sunday, February 26, 2012, In : Pokémon
Yesterday, the sequel... er, sequels to Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version were announced. To everyone's surprise, the next game would not be titled Pokemon Gray Version; rather, two games would be released-- Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2.

The mascots are shown to be strange creatures that resemble a cross between Kyurem and Zekrom and Kyurem and Reshiram, respectively. They appear to be referencing the Unova myth that Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem were once one great dragon-...

A Shining Opportunity

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, In : Pokémon
I can't remember when I first heard of Random Number Generator (RNG) manipulation, but it was quite a while ago. I remember browsing around Bulbagarden, and seeing these people talking about how this RNG abuse was a much easier way to get legitimate shiny Pokemon than chaining or the Masuda Method, and it was so easy that it was decreasing the value of shiny Pokemon. Curious, I decided to look it up. I quickly found my way to Smogon's RNGing guide, and I scanned through the entire page....

Losing its Luster

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Saturday, September 17, 2011, In : Pokémon
This isn't the first time this has happened. In fact, I went through the same thing right around the time the forums first popped up. I feel as if I'm losing interest in Pokemon.
The Black and White hype has subsided, and it's a slow time for Pokemon. I've beaten White, and I only have the Elite Four left in Black. I don't really intend on picking up Black anytime soon, though. I don't even know how many times I've fought the Elite Four in White and Japanese Black, and I'm just tired of it. I...

What's in a Name

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Saturday, January 15, 2011, In : Pokémon
Everyday when I get home from school, the first website I head on over to is either Bulbapedia, Serebii, or Pokebeach-- all in hope that more Black and White English names have been revealed. Today, the first site I checked was Bulbapedia, and I grinned at the sight of the newest news articles, which both involved English names. Desukan, Kibago, Musharna, Wargle, Minezumi, Ranculus, Gochizeru, and probably something I forgot officially received their names. But then, I headed on over to...

The Shiny Beasts Hit the States

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, In : Pokémon
Hmm... maybe my interpretation of me catching the shiny Raikou in the dream foretelling that the shiny beast event would be coming up in America wasn't so far off! Yesterday, it was revealed that the shiny beasts would be distributed at Gamestop in several weeks. However, unlike Japanese fans, we'll be able to potentially get all three of the beasts! Each legend will be given out for one week, and one week only:
Shiny Raikou (has the Rash nature, holds a Micle Berry, and knows Zap Cannon, Aura...

Cien! Cien! Cien! Cien! Cien! Cien!

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Thursday, November 18, 2010, In : Pokémon
Yesterday, my team in Black reached level 100 at long last. The first Pokemon to hit 100 was Denchura, followed by Victini, then Wargle, then Waruvial, then Jalorda, and lastly Daikenki. And what did I do to celebrate? I... er, shoved the six of them into the PC and started training a new team... heheh. The new team consists of a female Archeos, a male Monozu, a male Zebraika, a female Shandera, a female Riolu, and a male Kirikizan. I'm not sure if they'll ever get to level 100, but I'll try....

Mission Impossible?

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, In : Pokémon
After all that waiting and begging for my parents to get Jo Guardian Signs, after forcing Jo to play the game nonstop when she finally got it, after all the times I helped her when she was stuck... the Deoxys mission appears to be impossible.
You see, the mission, 'Deoxys and the Odd Temple' I think it's called, requires two or more players to complete, hence why I needed to wait for Jo to get the game. To perform multiplayer missions, you must travel to the past... I've never performed a mult...

Level 100 or Bust!

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Sunday, October 24, 2010, In : Pokémon
I have never, ever trained a Pokemon to lv. 100 outside of PMD... unlike the Mystery Dungeon games, training is very time consuming, and gets dull quite easily. However, in Black, the battles seem to move faster, and are more interesting with the new Pokemon and fully animated sprites. So, I'm going to try my hardest to train my team to lv. 100. At the current moment, they're:

•ウォーグル: Level 70 ♂ Wargle, knows Shadow Claw, Brave Bird, Crush Claw, and Fly.
•Coast: Level 70 ♀ Dai...

Heatran & Mew

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Saturday, October 16, 2010, In : Pokémon
Wow, two events in the course of two days! How sweet does it get?

As you may already know, Thursday was the first day you could download the Heatran mission in Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs. The end of this event has not yet been announced, but just in case I sped through my game and downloaded the event as quickly as possible. GS is the first Ranger game I've ever beaten, actually... and quite frankly, I didn't die once. In the original Ranger, I got stuck in some part with these dumb traps,...

Celebi

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Monday, October 11, 2010, In : Pokémon
With the release of Guardian Signs, I was able to obtain a Manaphy egg. As you may already know, Leafy let me borrow his Manaphy for my Pokedex, along with his Shaymin, though I never got the chance to obtain a Phione. As soon as that egg hatched, I admired my new legendary Pokemon for a few minutes, and then tossed it into the Daycare with my faithful Ditto. And soon enough, I had myself a little Phione; the 492nd Pokemon to be registered in my Pokedex.

Now there's only one* Pokemon left to c...

Wargle and Vuljina

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Saturday, September 18, 2010, In : Pokémon
As we all know, Black and White came out today in Japan. We've all seen and commented on the 156 new critters, so there's not much for me to say on that note. However, there's something quite bothersome (to me, anyway) regarding two avian Pokemon: Wargle and Vuljina.
When Wargle was leaked way back when, I thought of it as an extraordinary Pokemon; come on, it's a red, white and blue eagle for Arceus's sake! It was also a dead giveaway that the Isshu region was based off of some part of Ameri...

National Dex: Complete at Last

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Friday, September 3, 2010, In : Pokémon
Today I finished my National Pokedex in SoulSilver. It took a lot of time and effort to catch 'em all, but I did it. I caught, traded, bred, and migrated my way to victory-- at last! The first Pokemon registered in my dex was Totodile and the last was Blissey. I am missing Celebi and Phione, but they aren't required to complete the dex, of course. It's a shame that all you receive for accomplishing this mighty task is a pitiful certificate. Regardless, I snapped a photo of it on my DSi. I'd p...

Medicham & Me

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, In : Pokémon
So, last night, I was browsing through the GTS in search of a Medicham, one of the 24 Pokemon I was missing from my National Dex. I figured that I wouldn't find anything decent: most of the people on the GTS are total n00bs, asking for Lv. 100 Darkrai and Deoxys and crap. I did manage to find a nice Japanese Drapion recently-- the person wanted any Porygon2. I had some random Porygon2 from that Emerald game rotting in my PC, so I said, why not? I got the Drapion, which looked to be legit, and...

Ominous Wind

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Sunday, August 29, 2010, In : Pokémon
I'm mad. I'm reeeeally mad. Want to know why? Well...

In Explorers of Sky, I got through Deep Dark Crater at the expense of only one Reviver Seed (I have between five and seven of them, I really cant remember). I had high hopes, yet I doubted that I'd get very far...

You see, my strategy for the final battle is to first kill off that nasty Rhyperior with LightningRod as his ability. However, it takes up a turn to move in front of him, and it also wastes one of Storm's turns, as I have to butt h...

Ready for Battle

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Saturday, August 28, 2010, In : Pokémon
I've trained three of my Pokemon (Kim the Charizard, Silver the Lucario, and Jon the Aggron) to Lv. 50-- they're now all set for the Battle Frontier (which is really the only thing fun left to do in the game). Equipped with their Charti Berry, Expert Belt, and Quick Claw, respectfully, they'll be unstoppable!

The Ponyta Predicament

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Friday, August 20, 2010, In : Pokémon
As you may already know, recently I caught a shiny Shinx with the Pokeradar. I've been trying for several other Pokemon, but nothing's been working right. Well, I've reached 27 in a Ponyta chain, and have begun resetting the radar. So far, I've used up at least forty Max Repels, but I haven't seen a single shiny patch. I'm scared to continue the chain because chances are I'll end up breaking it. So, wish me luck, and let's hope I don't run into that stupid patch of grass which is blocked by m...

Lavender Town Tone

Posted by The Muffin Lucario on Friday, August 20, 2010, In : Pokémon
So, the other day, I was reading through a topic on the Bulbagarden forums-- it was about Pokemon related 'creepypasta'. Creepypasta are short stories designed to unnerve, disturb, elicit a negative emotional response from, and scare the reader, according to said topic. Well, a number of the creepypasta stories were about the original Lavender Town theme from the Japanese Red/Green versions, and why they changed it for the English release. They were quite ridiculous-- most were about how the ...
