Under: Mind
There's only about two weeks left of this marvelous summer. Soon, my days of rest and relaxation will turn into stressful ones full of bullies, studying, and little free time. This year isn't going to be a fun one-- last year, some high school freshmen came in to lecture us about what life in the high school is going to be like. It should be noted that these students were at the top of their class. When they were asked what there was to look forward to in high school, the only things they said were the vending machines and the lunches. It was easy to tell they weren't just joking around, too.
I've also received an overview of what honors English is going to be like. It looks like it's just going to be classic literature, poetry, and essays-- boy oh boy. The teacher specifically stated we aren't going to be doing any creative writing at all. Can't wait. I bet they'll be having much more fun in the regular ed class... I'm only taking honors because it'll look good on my resume, and after all I want to become an author.
Which reminds me... I still haven't done my book reports. That's one of my biggest weaknesses-- I'm a procrastinator. I never do things right away, unless they benefit me and/or I enjoy doing them. Fortunately, in the end I almost always get them done, unless I let a bunch of projects stack. That's what happened around the time I was making the Touching Spirit Bear project. I had three other projects to attend to as well, and as a result I never ended up doing one of them. If my English teacher hadn't given me the weekend to finish the TSB project, I wouldn't have finished that one, either. Thankfully, I don't have any other projects to do, except for personal ones (which don't have deadlines). The book report isn't even that much work; I just have to answer a few thought questions on all six chapters of The Pearl. The only thing is, I've heard The Pearl is dreadfully boring, and from the few pages I've read of it it seems that's true. I have absolutely no motivation... all I really want to do is sit back in my chair and browse around the forums, and maybe draw or listen to some music. Obviously, that's not going to get me anywhere. But no sweat, I'll do the report... just not now.
