The day started off normally... I woke up, packed up my stuff, threw on my Pokewalker, ate breakfast, etc etc. I threw my reindeer antlers (that are supposed to light up, but don't) into my bookbag, not exactly certain if I'd wear them or not. And of course, I packed away my bag of presents for the annual gift exchange my friends and I had. I packed everyone a crappy present, and a small box of chocolates. The not-so-great presents included a broken plastic yellow necklace, a stack of energy cards and a Magikarp card, a broken LeafGreen game my dad got on eBay for $2.00, an ancient bottle of lemon pepper, and a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD.
I fell asleep on the bus like always. But when we reached the school, some guy from the bus garage came on the bus and started yelling at us about how our behavior needs improvement. Of course he was mostly talking about the freaks in the back, who said something extremely disturbing about me that made my mom contact the bus garage... He obviously wasn't talking about me, for I never walk around the bus when it's in motion, or walk on the seats, or curse like a sailor (or at all, for that matter)... Once upon a time I nailed some girl in the face with my bookbag after she started insulting me, but my awesome bus driver was completely on my side. The bus garage dude made the freaks in the back stay on the bus after we were dismissed... >:3
The chorus teacher told us to report to the auditorium for the seventh and eighth grade holiday assemblies after checking in with our first period teacher for attendance. I did exactly that, but by the time I got there, practically everyone was already assembled on the risers. I brought along my reindeer antlers, and put them on when I sat down. Before the seventh graders came in for the first period assembly, my chorus teacher walked in front of the risers holding a sign that said 'Remember to keep your eyes on Doofus Boy!'
The seventh grade assembly began with the orchestra. To be honest, they didn't sound very great... they played three songs; one was from the movie 'Home Alone', one was the Hallelujah Chorus song, and I don't really know what the other one was. When they were finished, it was the chorus's turn to perform. My voice was still messed up from being sick, so I couldn't really hit all the notes, but I tried... most of the time, I'd hit the note, but then my throat would make this gurgling noise and I'd have to cough to clear it out, which really stood out amongst the singing. We sang 'Candle in the Window', 'Gloria for a Festive Day', and the pop vocals peeps sand 'Blue Skies'. I was scared to sing the pop song, since the pop group is much smaller than the regular chorus... my gurgling would really stand out. But it wasn't so bad. When we were done, band performed. They played a song from 'Indiana Jones', a combination of several Christmas songs, and 'Christmas Depression, Recession Blues' or something. The last one was pretty funny, since they had a group of kids and several teachers playing on cheap instruments, such as kazoos, nose flutes (I don't even know o.O), recorders, trash can lids, broken drums, slide whistles... My ELA teacher played the nose flute, and at the end she shouted, 'Now that's usin' ya resources!' in her thick New York accent.
The seventh graders then left, and the eighth graders piled in. We pretty much did a repeat of the seventh grade concert, except band went first, and chorus sang 'Snow' rather than 'Blue Skies'. Also, some of the teachers who performed in the band song were different... my ELA teacher was still there, since she taught enriched ELA to both seventh graders and eighth graders. But this time, Mr. Wiest ('Santa Wiest', as the band teacher said) was on kazoo. None of my other teachers performed, sadly.
My chorus teacher gave us a piece of chocolate as we left; I was headed to my tech teacher's room to watch 'Elf'. Since I was at the performance for the seventh graders, I missed half of the movie, but oh well. I sat by the heating vent, which was quite nice. When the movie was over, we started playing a DVD game of 'Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?'. We split into two teams; boys vs. girls. By the end of the period, it was a tie.
Next was the only real class we had today--- FACS. We went to the computer lab, and began researching careers. It was pretty boring... Afterwards, it was lunch, and time for the gift exchange!
From Sam I got a stuffed cat, Emily passed out oranges with faces drawn on them and candy canes, Megan gave us lollipops and scented pencils (mine was cinnamon), and Michelle gave everyone these tiny figurines she made out of clay modeled after us (packed with them was a little note, mine said 'I scratched myself with my foooot... where are the strawberries?'. Sam got the broken necklace, Emily got the Mickey DVD, Megan got the lemon pepper, Michelle got the crappy cards, and Ashley got the broken LeafGreen. For lunch, I got this weird pizza thing and apple juice... but then the pizza fell on the floor, and I had to get another one...
Next was what was supposed to be math... my teacher declared we were going to have a pop quiz, and everyone started complaining. When he passed out the quiz, I laughed... It was a huge sheet of random instructions. At the top it said 'read all of the directions'. So I did exactly that, and the last instruction said something like 'Now that you have read all the directions, complete only questions 1 & 2. They said something like 'Put your name on the upper right corner' and 'Put an X in the lower left corner'. Most of the other kids didn't read all of the instructions... It was funny to see half the class squirming around in their chairs, completing crazy tasks, and shouting out random things that the instructions said to do. What was even better was their expressions when they read the bottom... My math teacher awarded me and the three other kids who completed the assignment correctly with a homework pass and a handful of pretzels. After that, we played fraction and decimal bingo... I felt really stupid... I said that I had bingo, but one of my chips had apparently slipped... =P The people who did win got full size chocolate bars.
Homebase was really boring. The teacher chatted with the other peeps, and I fell asleep again. After what felt like forever, we left for the buses. The idiots in the back got split up... ha! I played Black for the entire bus ride, training my team on Cheren and the basketball peeps.
I'm so glad it's holiday vacation at last... no homework, no waking up super early, and no idiots until 2011! :D
