Under: Life
As some of you may already know, I spent the weekend in Toronto. Here's a summary of everything that happened:
We had to wake up rather early on Saturday. There was a bit of drama, and my dad went to Wal-Mart. But after all that was through, we hit the road.
I began playing HeartGold on my Dialga & Palkia DS. I trained up my Pokemon a bit, then I attempted to capture Suicune. By the time we hit the border, I turned my DS off for a while. When I picked it back up... there was something awfully strange about it. The top screen would flop either forwards or backwards depending on which way I held it. I have absolutely no idea why this happened, but it did. I like playing the DS when the screen is at a certain angle, so yeah, it's pretty much useless now. Why couldn't it have happened to the crappy White DS with the broken L and R buttons? That one's much older!
Anyway, the first thing we did was go to the Royal Ontario Museum, or ROM. On display were some of the ancient Chinese Terracotta Warriors. My mom was all excited to see them, and I was like, whatever. She kept on insisting that it was a once in a life time opportunity to see them, and I'm glad. I wouldn't want to experience anything like that again.
It might've been okay, if A, there weren't so many people there, or B, if my mom didn't spend 15 minutes staring at each thing that was on display, or C, if my back didn't hurt for no apparent reason.
Once we {finally} finished looking at that, we went on to see the dinosaur and prehistoric animal exhibits-- much more interesting in my opinion. They had a great display of bones and fossils. Jo and I couldn't help but point out the fossils that some Pokemon were based on, such as an ammonite and a horseshoe crab, Omanyte and Kabuto, respectively. There were also two dinosaur skeletons that looked just like Cranidos and Bastiodon, and they were, coincidentally, right next to each other. I can't remember what they were called, and if I did, I probably wouldn't be able to spell them.
After we were done there, we went on to the biodiversity exhibits, which were also very interesting. There was a hall filled with various stuffed birds, and then we entered a room with other stuffed animals and plants; one of the first things we saw was a giant flower that looked just like Vileplume. Jo's like, "No! They killed the Vileplume!" We came across this thing that played short videos, and we watched this... disturbing video of a dead fox decomposing sped up. Bugs flocked to it and ate its eyeballs, then the fox began to expand, and it practically exploded with bugs all over. Just... nasty. We came across a small gift shop, and I grabbed a praying mantis figurine, and threw it at Jo screaming "Scyther!" Then she started grabbing these other things and attacking the figurine with them.
We checked out a display of medieval armor and stuff afterwards. Everytime we passed an exhibit that had forks in it, I would shout about them for no apparent reason. There was even a medieval spork.
I wanted to check out the ancient Egyptian exhibits, but they were closed, I believe. The last thing we looked at was a room filled with all sorts of rocks and minerals. When ever I saw a cool colored rock, I'd shout, "Ooh, look at that." Let's just say there were a lot of cool colored rocks.
After that, we left ROM and headed for a McDonalds across the street. I got a cheeseburger, fries, and a strawberry milkshake. The fries weren't as salty as usual, and the ketchup had a sweeter taste which I didn't quite like. While we were eating, this freaky guy who sat at a table across from us kept staring at us...
We stopped at a Tim Hortons so my dad could get a coffee before going back to the car. Our next destination was the hotel. When we checked in, the guy gave us these awesome chocolate chip cookies.
Our room contained a queen-sized bed, a couch that turned into a bed, an armchair, and a TV. I was pretty tired, and my back still hurt a bit, so I tried to fall asleep on the couch, but ultimately failed. So I decided to play HG again-- thankfully I had brought along my white DS as well.
At first I tried to catch Suicune again, but I soon gave up. Realizing that it was a Saturday, I decided to participate in the Bug Catching Contest. I'm not really sure why. I randomly entered with my Kabutops, since I didn't have anything that knew False Swipe. I first ran into a Wurmple. Boring. I ran away from it. Next was a Nincada. Blahh. Ran away from it. Next was a Cascoon, bor- WAIT A MINUTE, IT'S GREEN!
I was too scared to lower its HP, so I began chucking Sport Balls at it at full HP. It broke out of the first one without shaking once. I threw another one; shake, shake, shake, click! The shiny Cascoon was mine! Jo and I were freaking out. I retired right after. It won me third place, not bad, but one would think a shiny would get a higher score.
I had two Rare Candies in HG for some reason, so I leveled him up and evolved him right away. I believe I caught him at Lv. 33...? Not completely sure. But after training him in SS, I now have a wonderful Lv. 50 shiny Dustox.
A while afterward, we decided to check out the pool. But, uh-oh... I left my bathing suit at home! So I went swimming in my spelling bee t-shirt and black sweatpants.
The water was warm. And disgusting. And the water slides were closed. And people were chucking people into the water and no one cared. So yeah, to sum it up, the pool sucked.
Afterward, we went to bed. Tomorrow we'd be going to the Toronto Zoo.
Man, they serve you A LOT of food at Perkins. How would they expect anyone to eat a plate full of tater tots, an entire omelet, and three pancakes? Jo, my dad, and I started doodling on Jo's kid's menu. My dad drew what was supposed to be a Pikachu, I really don't know what Jo drew, and I drew my Dustox.
The Toronto Zoo is huge, I tell you. I ended up with more than 15,000 steps on my Pokewalker, and we hadn't even seen it all. Boy, my Snorlax sure got a workout.
We took a ton of pictures; I'll describe the zoo when my mom sends them to me...
