Thanksgiving dinner was, as expected, not so good. The turkey was cooked the night before apparently, and thus by dinnertime it was cold and dry. Most of the food didn't appeal to me (turnips, broccoli, string beans, yams, other vegetables...) but the stuff I did have wasn't very great. The mashed potatoes were awfully bland, and the stuffing tasted... off. And don't get me started on the gravy... It was all so terrible that my mom declared we would be having a Thanksgiving dinner of our own this Sunday =P
The next morning, we headed out to one of my uncles' house. We were greeted at the door by his aging Labrador retriever, Cyan (I'm not sure if I spelled it right... I know that form of spelling is the color, so I'm not sure if that's right). It was quite sad to see; Cyan has a tumor the size of a golf ball bulging out of one of her eyes. My uncle refuses to take her to the vet; I'm not exactly sure why. Fortunately, the tumor doesn't seem to harm or bother the dog at all.
I mainly played my newly restarted Emerald while we were there, which was several hours. Mostly everyone was outside, playing various games that did not interest me with my second cousins. We had lunch there; assorted lunch meats, bread, and all the fixings. I had roast beef on Italian with Munster and tomatoes with a bit of pasta salad on the side and cream soda to drink. For desert I had a small piece of crumb cake.
When we finally left, we headed to the East Buffet, as I believe it is called- we thought it was called the Best Buffet, which seems like a more appropriate choice. This buffet has tons of great stuff. I had a bit of sushi, quail, duck, Alfredo, and dumplings, if I remember correctly. For dessert I had a "gooey thing", for a lack of a better name. It was practically a sticky rice ball coated with coconut and stuffed with almonds. I also had a little bowl of mango custard. Jo had both of those things, a piece of cake, three cookies, and a Jell-O o.O
When we were done there. we made a quick stop at a nearby Gamestop. All we did was look around for a bit before heading to a mall. As it was Black Friday, the mall was particularly crowded, especially the iPod store or whatever. Despite this, we had a good time, even though Jo nearly broke several doodads in one store. We kept seeing these sky blue rubber lizards with freaky eyes in at least three different stores... o_O
The next morning, we headed out to a coffee shop so my dad could meet up with his friend from elementary school. She had a daughter a couple years younger than me, but we didn't talk or anything, mostly due to my anti-socialness. I got a coconut mocha iced coffee, so life was good B)
Next we headed to the Roosevelt mansion and museum. I guessed the area would look very beautiful in the spring or summer, but the scattered, crushed up leaves, dead-looking trees, and sinister atmosphere of late autumn sort of took away its charm. There were Greek columns, fountains, and flower patches all spread out throughout the area. We first visited this really lame dinosaur exhibit, but then we made our way to a hall of stuffed fish which was more interesting. There was also this amusing hall of preserved fish along the way. We then went on a tour of the mansion, which was sadly extremely boring. I nearly fell asleep as the guide rambled about boring stuff. When the tour was over at last, I was really tired, but my mom insisted we visit this lame mummy that you couldn't even see very well.
After a few minutes of rest in the car, my parents stopped at a village, and we were on our feet again. We stopped at a toy store, and Jo happened to get some toy caught in the zipper of her coat... my mom had to drag her up to the register so they could cut it off xd
Then we stopped at the most boring museum in all of history. It was barely a museum at all. I don't even know what was there, I was barely paying attention. My dad, who apparently found it interesting, spent like a half hour talking to the guide while I sat on the ground playing Emerald.
Wheeeen we left there, we walked back to the car in what felt like freezing temperatures. We then stopped at a supermarket to get snacks for the way back. When we got back to my aunt's house, we found that we would be eating leftovers for dinner-- OH JOY! I refused to have any; rather I simply ate cheese and crackers. I watched a bit of the movie 'Elf' while my parents, Jo, and my dad's friend who randomly came over played Pictionary before going to bed.
The following morning, we packed our bags and left-- at last! I restarted FireRed and played that most of the way back. We stopped at my other uncle's house in Albany for lunch (this weird chicken soup) and then continued on our way. After making several stops at rest-stops, we were home at last. HALLELUJAH!
