Jo has this thing against any kind of ice cream, other than plain vanilla and cookies n' cream. I've never met a single kid who's that picky about ice cream. I mean, I'm happy with any ice cream, as long as it's ice cream! Well, this often leads to disagreements at the supermarket...
"Cherry! I love cherry, can we get cherry?!"
"I hate cherry."
"... What about peanut butter cup? Do you like that?"
"No."
"Seriously Jo, is there anything you do like?"
"..."
"Birthday cake? That's good, y'know the yellow kind with the chocolate frosting in it?"
"No."
... And it goes on from there. A few days ago, my mom bought both cookies n' cream and these ice cream sundae cups with Reese's Pieces in them... but my dad ate all of them, so we got these sundae cups with peanut butter cups soon after. Today, I was on the computer, when Jo walks in with a peanut butter cup ice cream sundae in her hands.
"I thought you hated that?!" I exclaimed.
Jo shrugged. "I just wanted to try it..."
In that case, 75% of the ice cream would be thrown in the trash. "Can I have some of the peanut butter cups?" I asked her. I couldn't let her waste the best part!
"No," she answered.
"Uh... I'll give you some gummy bears?" I reached into my basket of candy and pulled out two green gummy bears. "Nope," she responded casually.
"What about red gummy bears? Those taste better," I offered.
"Nope."
"Chocolate?"
"No."
"Anything?"
She raised a finger to her chin. "If you help me get a good Pokemon in Blue Rescue Team..." My mom bought Jo Blue Rescue Team while we were at Gamestop on Saturday. She still hadn't chosen what to be.
"Sure!" That wasn't too big of a deal for me. I actually enjoyed taking the Mystery Dungeon personality quizzes. Even though it's just a video game, I loved finding out what my 'inner Pokemon' is, even if I use a website to find which answers to choose to get a certain Pokemon. And hey, I wasn't losing any candy, so life was good!
I Googled a Blue Rescue Team personality quiz guide as Jo retrieved her game for me. I popped the cartridge in to my DP DS, and started it up. Jo looked through the list of Pokemon, and decided that she wanted to be a Cubone. I've always wanted to be a Cubone in the Rescue Team games, but I've never, ever had Cubone come up. I figured out that to be a female Cubone, you'd have to have the Impish nature. I took my time on each question, selecting the answers that would best lead to the Impish nature. When the quiz was over, I ended up with... Squirtle. Jo screamed "Ew!" and we shut off the game.
I took the quiz again. Treecko. Again. Charmander. Once more... Cubone, at last! By that point, Jo left the room out of boredom, which meant I got to choose the partner. I quickly picked Charmander, and named her (the Pokemon didn't have genders in the first PMD games, if you recall, so they could really be whatever) after myself. I then bashed the A button until it let me name Jo's character, which I appropriately named Jo. I then made my way through Tiny Woods, and A-bashed my way through the dialogue about Caterpie and whatnot. When Charmander Kim led Cubone Jo to the house, I called the human (human might not really be the right term, actually) Jo over; it was time to come up with a team name. She had to go to bed really soon, so we sort of rushed. Within a few seconds, Jo decided on something involving 'Squidward'. I have no clue why, but Jo's suddenly obsessed with Spongebob... up until now, she hated it. She wanted to call the team 'EmoSquidward', but that wouldn't fit. She then said 'eSquidward', and we were going to go with that until I brought up the iSuck lollipops from social studies. And so we became Team iSquidward.
Jo had to go to bed right after that, so I saved and shut off the game. We can only wait to see what marvelous expeditions the wonderful Team iSquidward will embark on in the future!
